
May is a highly active and dedicated Associate Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 554, currently serving as branch Executive Member, Poppy Trust & Bursary Chairperson.
The daughter of a World War II veteran and the wife of a 40-year CAF veteran, May followed her husband’s career across the country and in Europe for 36 years. Primarily a stay-at-home mother, she also worked as a receptionist for Clarkson Gordon & Company (now part of EY Canada) whenever her family was stationed in a city with a Clarkson Gordon office. Additionally, May worked for several years as a supervisor at Zellers.
May is deeply community-oriented. Over the years, she has been heavily involved with the Girl Guides of Canada, where she received the Thank You Pin for her outstanding service. She also contributed to Scouts Canada for several years, not only at the local level but also at the district level, providing formal training for future adult leaders.
May has been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 6 years, where she has been promoting remembrance and the welfare of veterans. Her involvement on the Rockland & District Branch Executive spans 5 years and includes positions such as Poppy Trust Chair, Bursary Chair, and Cadet Liaison. She has also represented the branch at numerous Zone and District level conventions. For the past 2 years, May has served on the Royal Canadian Legion Zone G5 Executive, working with her husband to organize and coordinate Legion-sponsored activities at the Perley Health Centre in Ottawa.
May’s dedication to organizations like the Girl Guides of Canada, Scouts Canada, and the Royal Canadian Legion exemplifies her unwavering commitment to community service and to Canada. She is a shining example of leadership, commitment, and dedication.
May currently resides in Rockland, Ontario with her husband Don. They have two children and three grandchildren.
