CWO (Ret’d) Robert Gagnon

Robert started with the CAF Primary Reserves in 1978. He quickly became known for his hard work, flexibility, and strong commitment to Canada’s defence. In his 42 years, he took on many roles, helped train new recruits, and supported missions both in Canada and for overseas deployment. His skills in leading teams and organizing activities helped improve his regiments. Robert also took part in many training sessions, community events, and planning projects. He is remembered for his teamwork, strength, and the values of the Canadian Armed Forces.
At the same time, Robert worked for IC for 42 years. He began in 1983 and helped with programs that supported Canadian schools and non-profit organizations. He worked to encourage new ideas and helped create policies to make technology more available to everyone. Robert held different jobs, from program officer to team leader, always showing clear thinking and a strong desire to help the public.
After retiring from his careers, Robert has been devoting more time to the Royal Canadian Legion since 2020, a respected organization supporting veterans, promoting remembrance, and strengthening communities. His involvement included participating in local branch activities, supporting veterans and their families, and helping with commemorative events such as Remembrance Day. In 2023, he was elected as the Branch President, showing his continued commitment to service and community.
Robert resides in Rockland, Ontario and is married to Deborah Hailstone and they have 6 children and 13 grandchildren.
